Since 2004, the Seeds of Hope mission program has been a meaningful part of the ministry of CCEH. During that time, our church has organized 16 mission trips, serving in nine different locations and sharing God's love through hands-on service.
Mission trips are about much more than the work we accomplish. While there is great joy in serving others, each team returns home changed by the experience. We have learned about the resilience of the people we meet, the richness of different cultures, and the strength of communities facing significant challenges. Many of our mission experiences have included educational sessions led by local residents who shared the history of their communities, the obstacles they face, and their hopes for the future.
Our purpose has never been to change people, but to serve with humility, compassion, and love. We seek to be Christ's hands and feet by offering our presence, our willingness to help, and our open hearts. In doing so, we often discover that we receive as much as we give.
Over the years, 104 individuals have answered God's call, saying, "Here I am, send me." Many have participated more than once, resulting in 208 mission journeys in total.
We are grateful for every person who has been part of this ministry. Whether they traveled with the team, supported the trips through prayer or financial gifts, or encouraged others to serve, all have helped sow Seeds of Hope in communities both near and far.
Over the years, Seeds of Hope teams have served with many outstanding organizations, including Remember at Pine Ridge in South Dakota; Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi; School for Life in Gary, West Virginia; Boston Urban Outreach in Boston, Massachusetts; Habitat for Humanity in Little Ferry, New Jersey; Deep Roots at Clairvaux Farm in Earleville, Maryland; Heifer Farm in Rutland, Massachusetts; Global Ministries in Puerto Rico; and Boston North Backyard Mission in Boxford, Massachusetts.
As we look back with gratitude, we also look ahead with hope, trusting that God will continue to call members of our congregation to serve others with faith, compassion, and love. Together, we will continue sowing Seeds of Hope wherever God leads.
